Homestead police: Shooting injures 3-year-old child

HOMESTEAD, Fla. ā€“ A shooting injured a 3-year-old child on Sunday in Homestead.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Southeast 10th Street and 26th Terrace. A helicopter flew the pediatric patient to the HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.

According to the Homestead Police Department, the wounded childā€™s condition was stable on Sunday afternoon and detectives were investigating the shooting.

ā€œAt this time, details surrounding the incident are limited, and our investigation is ongoing,ā€ a spokesperson for the police department said in a statement to Local 10 News. ā€œOur priority is to gather all relevant information and ensure a thorough investigation into this unfortunate event.

ā€œThe Homestead Police Department is committed to the safety and well-being of all members of our community. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.ā€
