Apparent accidental shooting leaves man dead, 1 suspect detained in Miramar

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Miramar police are investigating an apparent accidental shooting that they say left one man dead and another detained.

It happened around 11 p.m. Thursday near the Miramar Lakes apartment complex, located near the 10700 block of North Preserve Way.

Police said the incident was between two men who may have been friends.

Authorities said upon their arrival, they found both men outside the complex including the victim who had been shot, performed CPR, and then rushed him to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

“Officers are working with the suspect. He’s being cooperative at this moment. We are not looking for anyone else and this is an ongoing investigation,” said Miramar Police Sgt. Tiffany Roy.

Police have not identified the victim or suspect involved in the shooting.

It is unclear if the suspect will face any charges.
