Cops confident they’ll catch woman they say tipped over menorah, scrawled ‘God hates Jews’ nearby

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. – Sunny Isles Beach police say they’re confident they’ll catch a woman who was caught on video toppling a menorah; police said she then scrawled an anti-Semitic message on a bus stop.

It happened at a synagogue in the barrier island community. The menorah is a fixture at the house of worship, but the woman was seen uprooting it.

“This wasn’t ‘Oops, I bumped into it,” Sunny Isles Beach police Sgt. Brian Schnell told Local 10 News.

On Wednesday, police put out a flyer alerting officers to be on the lookout for the suspect, who they said later wrote “God hates Jews” in nail polish on a nearby bus stop.

“We have put the word out to look for her some of our midnight units think that they have seen her previously,” Schnell said.

Police want to charge her with hate crimes.

“We want to catch her,” Schnell said. “Anyone who can act so brazenly needs to be taken off the streets.”

Anyone with information is asked to immediately call Sunny Isles Beach police at 305-947-4440.
