Cops seek woman caught on camera toppling menorah in Sunny Isles Beach

Police say she also scrawled ā€˜God hates Jewsā€™ on a bus stop

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. ā€“ Sunny Isles Beach police are looking for a woman caught on video toppling a menorah; police said she then scrawled an anti-Semitic message on a bus stop.

It happened at a synagogue in the barrier island community.

The menorah is a fixture at the house of worship, but the woman was seen uprooting it.

ā€œDefinitely was intentional and she meant to do it,ā€ Sunny Isles Beach police Chief Edward Santiago said. ā€œShe put a lot of work into it to destroy it.ā€

A short time later, police said she went to a nearby bus shelter, where she scrawled ā€œGod hates Jews.ā€

Police said she may face hate crime charges once captured.

ā€œWe take this very seriously,ā€ Santiago said. ā€œWe are not going to tolerate any religious intolerance.ā€

Anyone with information is asked to immediately call Sunny Isles Beach police at 305-947-4440.
