According to Miami-Dade police Detective Angel Rodriguez, the shooting was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday inside a business at 3570 NW 50th St.
Police said De La Cruz was inside his Jet Ski repair business when Fullwood entered the shop, walked up to the victim and shot him.
“What I know is that he had a couple of customers out there, and there was another gentleman that had nothing to do with those customers,” a friend of the victim’s told Local 10 News. “Obviously as I hear, he came to pick up a piece or a part for one of the (jet) skis, and this other gentleman walks behind him and as he turns around, he gets shot, point blank in the head.”
According to the suspect’s arrest report, Fullwood fled the scene on a bicycle.
Police said a witness heard a gunshot and saw Fullwood leaving the shop.
The witness then entered the business, where he saw De La Cruz and then immediately called 911.
According to the report, the shooting was captured on surveillance video and the witness identified Fullwood in a photo lineup.
Police said Fullwood was detained Thursday during a traffic stop and was taken to the Homicide Bureau to be interviewed by detectives.
According to the report, Fullwood “provided several different inconsistent statements that did not correspond with the evidence and surveillance camera footage obtained from the scene.”
He then provided a “video recorded confession,” the report stated.
Fullwood was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he was being held without bond, as of Friday afternoon.
A motive for the shooting has not been released.
