Man in critical condition after being pulled from canal in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Divers were seen pulling a man from the water in Broward County on Wednesday.

It happened near Northwest 3rd Court and 19th Avenue at approximately 5:30 p.m.

According to authorities, the man was playing with a remote control boat in a canal when it got tangled up on the other side.

The man jumped in and started swimming towards the boat when fire rescue workers said at some point he went under the water and did not come back up.

It’s unclear how long the man was underwater before being pulled out.

Authorities said he was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in extremely critical condition.
