Miami Lakes town commission special election heading for runoff

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – Voters in Miami Lakes took to the polls on Tuesday night for a special election.

Seat 6 on the Miami Lakes town commission was up for grabs, and since no candidate secured at least 50% of the votes, the election will go to a runoff.

Bryan Morera received the most votes on Tuesday, racking up 29.41%

The race for second place between Hector Abad and Esther Colon was extremely close.

Colon finished with 476 votes, just seven more than Abad received.

Now a runoff election will be held for Morera and Colon that will take place on April 30.

According to Miami-Dade County Elections, a total of 2,104 ballots were cast, a 10.52% voter turnout from the 20,004 registered voters in Miami Lakes.
