Deputies ID victims in fatal southern Broward crash caught on camera

WEST PARK, Fla. – Deputies have identified the two men who they say were involved in a fatal crash that was caught on camera in southern Broward County last weekend.

The crash closed the southbound and northbound lanes between Hallandale Beach Boulevard and Southwest 21 Street in West Park around 2 p.m. Saturday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday.

Authorities said Anfernee Dawson was traveling northbound in a 2015 Audi S4 on South State Road 7 at which time Juan Perez was traveling southbound in a 2006 Nissan Altima when he attempted to make a left turn to go eastbound on Southwest 25th Street.

According to investigators, Perez turned left into the path of the Audi, which they say caused the front of the vehicle to collide with the passenger side of the Nissan in a T-bone-style collision. The impact of the crash projected the Nissan into a concrete utility pole on the east side of the road.

BSO deputies, Miramar Fire Rescue and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. Detectives say Perez and his passenger Juan Perez Domingo were pronounced dead at the scene by Miramar Fire Rescue.

Detectives said Miramar Fire Rescue transported Dawson and two of the Audi passengers to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies said the southbound lanes of State Road 7 were temporarily on Saturday afternoon as their investigation continued.

BSO did not release the age of the victims involved in the crash due to Marcy’s Law.
