Transgender male injured in shooting at The Village at Gulfstream Park

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Local 10 News obtained exclusive body camera video of Hallandale Beach police officers responding to a shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning at The Village at Gulfstream Park.

According to authorities, officers responded to the 800 block of Silks Run near Strike 10 Bowling after receiving reports about a shooting around 1:30 a.m.

Hallandale Beach police Capt. Aaron Smith said one victim, who he identified only as a transgender male, was transported to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Smith told Local 10 News reporter Rosh Lowe that he believes the shooting is considered to be an “isolated incident” and not related to a hate crime.

“We don’t believe this was a hate crime,” Smith said. “When we have incidents like this, we do our very best and we do everything to keep our community safe.”

Police said they are now searching for a female suspect, and said the suspect and victim are known to each other.
