Miami man accused of beating 5-year-old boy for watching ‘PAW Patrol’

It’s ‘for girls,’ police say he told the victim

MIAMI – Police arrested a Miami man on a felony child abuse warrant Tuesday for beating his girlfriend’s 5-year-old son for watching the children’s show “PAW Patrol” in 2022, according to an arrest report; they say he told the boy the show was “for girls.”

Police said the incident happened on Dec. 26, 2022 at a home on Northwest Seventh Place in Miami’s Liberty City neighborhood.

A witness told police that Keyyun Bryant, now 36, grabbed the boy “super hard” on his arm before telling him that the show was “for girls,” the report states.

The victim, during a forensic interview, told staff members at the University of Miami Child Protection Team that Bryant grabbed him on his right arm and “scratched” him and “wrapped both his hands around his neck and told him he was going to take him to jail,” the report states.

The witness told the Child Protection Team that Bryant “came into the room while her and the victim were watching ‘PAW Patrol’ and grabbed the victim by the arm, neck, and hit him in the back of the head because the victim was in the ‘girls room,’” police said.

Miami Police Department Felony Apprehension Team detectives located Bryant Tuesday in the area of Northwest 13th Avenue and 60th Street, the report states.

Police said he told detectives he would watch over the children while his girlfriend went to work, but denied harming the boy and said the child’s biological father has lodged false allegations against him in the past.

Bryant was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Wednesday afternoon. His bond was listed as “to be set” and he was being held for a magistrate.
