Fire leaves home charred in Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Hollywood firefighters extinguished a large blaze that erupted Friday morning at a home.

The fire was reported in the 1100 block of North 70th Way.

Hollywood Fire Rescue officials said they received multiple calls about the fire and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the side of the house and flames visible in the inside of the home.

“We had heavy black smoke and a large amount of fire on the house when we got here,” Capt. Eric Lombardi said. “Heavy smoke and heavy fire. The fire was coming out the rear lanai of the house -- not quite through the roof yet, but there was a still a large amount of fire in the home at the time.”

Sky 10 was above the scene just before 10 a.m. The back of the home appeared to have sustained significant damage, as well as the inside of the house.

According to Hollywood Fire Rescue officials, no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
