Keys woman stalked neighbor for nearly 2 years after victim honked at peacocks, cops say

‘Buckle up buttercup,’ deputies say she told victim

ISLAMORADA, Fla. – Deputies in the Florida Keys arrested a 61-year-old woman Friday after they accused her of spending nearly two years stalking and harassing a neighbor.

According to an arrest warrant from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, it all began in May 2022 after the victim honked her horn at some peacocks blocking the street.

The warrant states that both the suspect, M A Dailor, and the victim live on Aregood Lane in Islamorada.

Deputies said after the woman successfully cleared the peacocks out of the street, parked and got her dogs out to walk them, Dailor “jumped out from behind the residence,” “screamed” at the victim and called her an “animal abuser.”

Dailor then followed the woman in a “very aggressive manner,” the warrant states, and screamed at her more.

In a June 2023 incident, deputies said Dailor again screamed at the woman, using words that weren’t coherent.

When the victim told Dailor to go away and leave her alone, the warrant states that Dailor replied, “Go ahead and run you little girl. I hate you – I hate all my neighbors, especially you. Run away, scared little girl.”

Afterward, deputies said the victim’s husband called Dailor’s husband, Mike Dailor, who doesn’t appear to be facing charges in the case, to ask that his wife stay away from the victim; he was dismissive, they said.

“I stand behind my wife, she is her own person and can do what she likes,” authorities say he told the victim’s husband.

In December 2023, the victim caught Dailor following her and taking pictures of her — later snapping photos of her home and through her windows, deputies said.

Dailor told the victim that she has “no idea what(’s) coming,” deputies wrote.

After the victim told Dailor that she wasn’t afraid of her, Dailor replied that she “should be,” according to the warrant.

On Jan. 26, two days after Dailor appeared at the victim’s home and spoke to her through a Ring camera asking her to “to call her about some letter,” the victim hired an attorney to send Dailor a cease-and-desist letter, the warrant states.

Deputies said Dailor neither ceased nor desisted.

On March 13, deputies said Dailor passed out on the victim’s patio chairs and, when she got up, again became angry about peacocks, “screaming profanities” at construction workers that “they were making noise and disturbing the peacocks.”

Later that day, she told the victim, “Here comes the queen,” as she walked her dogs and began yelling about cable, the warrant states. Eventually, deputies were called and Dailor was told to stay away from the victim, the warrant states.

On March 15, deputies wrote that as the victim was eating breakfast on her balcony, she could see Dailor in her carport talking to herself.

Dailor, deputies said, then “stood on a chair” and used a black marker to begin writing on walls; it was a message for the victim about how she was “wasting police time,” the warrant states.

“Buckle up buttercup, hungover much, one more word, false police report, snow bird much, you just gotta go there if you have a spine,” Dailor allegedly wrote.

“It was also written about how (the victim) kept the police there another half hour when (there) was a nasty crash on the highway, deputies wrote. “(The victim) again contacted law enforcement, where M A Dailor was trespass warned from (her) property.”

Deputies said a painter was later sent to paint over the writing.

“The painter indicated that M A Dailor’s husband advised him not to paint over it as M A Dailor wanted to leave it up there to bother” the victim, deputies said.

Deputies wrote that later that day, Dailor “made many self-inflicted cuts to her arm which required medical attention and stitches.”

The victim got a stalking injunction against Dailor on Tuesday, according to the warrant, and it was served on Wednesday.

Afterward, deputies said Dailor sent the victim a text message stating, “Does this picture and the action I am getting ready to take against you make it seem like a calm sit down is in order.”

That led deputies to arrest Dailor Wednesday for violating the court order. She bonded out the next day, MCSO jail records show.

Dailor was then arrested again Friday on an aggravated stalking charge. She was released Saturday on a $10,000 bond, according to jail records.

Online records don’t list Dailor’s arraignment date.
