PALMETTO BAY, Fla. – Kidneys, two bean-shaped organs about the size of a fist, filter blood up to 25 times daily. One can lose up to 60% of kidney function before noticing any problems.
The National Kidney Foundation focuses on prevention and treatment. The nonprofit organization held the annual 2024 Miami Kidney Walk on Sunday at Coconut Creek Park in Palmetto Bay.
The patients’ advocates’ goal was to help kidney patients access better care to live longer. Those who are unable to attend the walk can participate on their own time.
A donation as low as $5 gets you shoelaces to help raise awareness during March, National Kidney Month.
