Man accused of using bomb during commercial burglary in Hialeah

MIAMI – A 38-year-old man used an explosive device that caused a fire during a recent burglary at a small strip mall in Hialeah, according to prosecutors.

Miguel Reyes, Jr., appeared before Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Laura Anne Stuzin during a public bond court hearing on Saturday morning.

According to county inmate records, Reyes had been at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center since about 7 p.m., Friday, after his arrest.

Stuzin ordered Reyes to stay away from the commercial property, at 60 W. 49 St., just north of Milander Park. She also denied him a bond for two of the three charges.

Reyes was facing a charge of burglary, a first-degree felony punishable with up to life in prison. He was also facing a charge of first-degree felony arson. Stuzin set his bond at $7,500 for the use of a bomb or destructive device causing disruption.
