KEY WEST, Fla. – The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the lower Florida Keys on Saturday.
A severe thunderstorm could produce a tornado until about noon in the area. The radar indicated a rotation at about 11:35 a.m. over the Upper Sugarloaf Key.
Those without shelter had to watch out for dangerous flying debris capable of damaging or destroying a mobile home, and damage to roofs and windows.
The dangerous storm also affected the Niles Channel Bridge, Summerland Key, Cudjoe Key, Ramrod Key, Big Torch Key, Little Palm Island Resort, Middle Torch Key, Little Torch Key, Big Pine Key, Spanish Harbor Channel Bridge, Bahia Honda Channel Bridge and Bahia Honda Key.
