Miami Beach doctor to surrender license after pleading to lesser charge in sex crimes case

MIAMI – A Miami Beach doctor who was facing charges of human trafficking involving minors accepted a plea deal Thursday.

Jeffrey Kamlet pleaded guilty in Miami-Dade court to a charge of custodial interference. In exchange, adjudication was withheld, but he was forced to surrender his medical license.

The now-69-year-old doctor, a renowned pain relief expert, was arrested in March 2023.

Investigators alleged that he lured two teens he met online, gave them drugs and paid for sex.

Three months after Kamlet’s initial arrest, one of the alleged victims was found dead in the Little River between Miami and El Portal.
