Victim dies one day after turning 20 in Miramar drive-by shooting

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Police identified a victim Wednesday who they say was killed in a drive-by shooting in Miramar Tuesday morning.

Miramar police said officers were dispatched to a drive-by shooting call just after 11:45 a.m. near the 3200 block of Southwest 66th Way.

Authorities confirmed Ernst Valcourt, who turned 20 years old on Monday, was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.

Sky 10 flew over the scene around 12:10 p.m. where a Bentley coupe was riddled with bullet holes and SWAT officers were canvassing the area.

Tania Ordaz, a spokesperson with the Miramar Police Department, told Local 10 News that six people were inside the home near where the Bentley was parked and the shooting occurred.

Ordaz confirmed two of the six people were uncooperative when police arrived but eventually came out of the home and were detained.

“This was very brazen,” said Ordaz. “We’re looking for at least one person, could be more.”

Police said Valcourt did not live in the home near where he was shot.

His family says a friend had picked him up before the shooting occurred but they do not know who that friend is.

It remains unclear if Valcourt was the intended target of the shooting.

Ordaz said no arrests have been made following the shooting and a motive remains unclear at this time.

Police are urging anyone who has information on the case to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
