Miami-Dade PD: Man fatally shot girlfriend, before killing roommate and himself

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ New details were released Monday following a murder-suicide over the weekend in southwest Miami-Dade.

According to Miami-Dade police, Luis Napoles, 40, arrived at his girlfriendā€™s condominium complex Saturday night and shot her just outside her unit.

She was identified by police Monday as 25-year-old Meghan Moore.

Police confirmed that officers responded to the Windsor Ludlum Trail Apartments, located off Bird Road and Southwest 70th Avenue, just before 9 p.m. and found Mooreā€™s body.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said officers then heard the sound of a gunshot coming from inside the apartment unit.

The police departmentā€™s Special Response Team arrived soon after and forced their way inside, where they found the bodies of Napoles and Mooreā€™s roommate, Sidney Capolino.

Police believe Napoles killed Capolino, 23, before taking his own life.

ā€œDuring this situation, out of an abundance of caution, the residents of this condominium building were evacuated and asked to stand by as our Special Response Team did everything they have to do to bring this to a safe conclusion, so that there was no further loss of life,ā€ Miami-Dade Police Detective Andre Martin said.

While police initially said they believed Napoles and the women lived together, an updated news release from the police department Monday lists a separate address for Napoles.

Both Moore and Capolino were recent graduates of New Englnad College, a liberal arts school in New Hampshire, which released a statement following the shooting. It said, in part:

ā€œTwo recent New England College graduates, Sidney Capolino ā€˜22 and Meghan Moore ā€˜21, were killed this past weekend in Florida. Meghan and Sidney were known to many on campus, and we are deeply saddened by this devastating news. We are keeping Sidney and Meghanā€™s families and friends in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.ā€

A motive for the murder-suicide remains unclear.
