MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police in Miami-Dade County are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of three people over the weekend.
Officials said they believe it was a murder-suicide.
“At this time, we believe that everyone involved in this tragic incident is accounted for,” Miami-Dade Police Detective Andre Martin said. “This was an isolated incident -- a very tragic, but isolated incident.”
Officers responded to the apparent murder-suicide that took place at the Windsor Ludlum Trail Apartments, located off Bird Road and 70th Avenue in southwest Miami-Dade County Saturday night.
Authorities said three people were found dead -- two women and a man.
Officers initially responded to a call about a shooting just before 9 p.m.
When they arrived, they found one woman with a gunshot wound outside of an apartment, but while treating her, they heard another gunshot come from a nearby unit, authorities said.
The police department’s Special Response Team arrived soon after and forced their way inside, where they later found the bodies of two other people -- another woman who had been shot, and a man who appeared to have shot himself.
“During this situation, out of an abundance of caution, the residents of this condominium building were evacuated and asked to stand by as our Special Response Team did everything they have to do to bring this to a safe conclusion, so that there was no further loss of life,” Martin said.
Authorities have yet to disclose the relationship between the people involved.
