Home erupts in flames in Florida City

FLORIDA CITY, Fla. – A home erupted in flames Saturday afternoon in Florida City.

The fire was reported in the 700 block of Southwest 11th Avenue.

“My next door neighbor was pulling in and she called me and said, “Hey, are you home?’ I said, ‘Yes, I’m home with the baby. What’s going on?’ She said, ‘Get out of the house. The house next door is engulfed in fire,’” Gladys Gonzalez, who lives next door to the home, said. “So as I was running out of the house, we felt immediately the flames. Like the fire was right there next to the house. I ran out with my daughter, with my niece. We were coughing because the smoke already got to the house.”

Gonzalez told Local 10 News that she had to run back into her house to get her three dogs out before the fire got to her home.

Everyone inside her home made it out safely, but it’s unclear if there were any injuries in the home where the fire originated.

Miami-Dade firefighters have since extinguished the flames.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
