FLORIDA CITY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police are investigating after they said a man was caught on camera setting a fire inside a Florida City car wash earlier this month.
According to investigators, the man was seen walking through a parking lot and entering the Luv Car Wash, located at 33513 S. Dixie Highway, around 12:30 a.m. March 2.
Police said he had just gotten off the Marathon Bus and walked over to the car wash, which was closed at the time.
Surveillance video shows him “setting one of the tunnels at the car wash on fire, causing major fire and smoke damage,” a news release stated.
Police said he was also seen urinating on the floor before setting the fire and then fleeing the scene on foot.
Authorities have estimated the damages to the business to be approximately $60,000.
Detectives said they are seeking the assistance of the public to help identify the man responsible.
