Video shows father killed execution-style in Lauderhill; 1 gunman used assault rifle

Police seek suspects who were apparently angry that victim talked to woman

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Newly-released video shows the chilling moments two suspects gunned down a father outside of a Lauderhill lounge in February; police shared the video as they continue to seek help identifying the men.

Christopher Matthew Fletcher, 34, was shot and killed outside of The Spot Lounge Bar & Grill, located at 4587 N. University Drive, in the early-morning hours of Feb. 7.

The suspects also shot another man, who survived.

Fletcher was a father of two young children.

He had gone to the establishment with a friend and as the two were exiting, struck up a conversation with a woman.

Police said the two suspects, whom they did not know, weren’t happy about that. So they went back to their car and pulled out a gun and an assault rifle.

“Out of nowhere, they just opened fire on the two victims,” Lt. Antonio Gonzalez, a Lauderhill police spokesperson, said. “It’s extremely concerning for not only our city, any city, for a subject just to (go) back to their vehicle there in the parking lot, retrieve an assault rifle at that and just open fire.”

Police are hopeful that video and photo evidence will spur the public to give them the tip they need.

“Somebody out there knows them,” Gonzalez said. “They patronized the establishment for several hours, so somebody must have seen them. If you know who they are, please come forward.”

The mother of the man’s children told Local 10 News that she’s absolutely devastated by what happened and she, too, is pleading for someone to come forward and identify the suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
