Authorities identified the two suspects Wednesday as Isaia Perez, 36, and Brian Washington, 40, both of Miami.
According to Detective Argemis Colome, the drive-by shooting was reported at 10:38 p.m. Feb. 17 in the 11300 block of Southwest 190th Lane.
He said officers arrived at the scene to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the back of his head.
A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crew transported him to Jackson South Medical Center in stable condition.
A woman named Julie Ricano identified the victim to Local 10 News as her grandson’s father, Manny. She declined to give his last name.
She said Manny was outside a home on 190th Lane when the shooting occurred. She was inside.
According to Washington’s arrest report, one of the victims told police that there was an ongoing dispute between Perez and one of the victim’s girlfriends.
Police said a second witness reported receiving a threatening phone call from Perez about an hour before the shooting occurred.
Additionally, a second victim recounted a prior incident where Washington and Perez arrived at the location with a rifle and threatened him. Both incidents were captured on video surveillance cameras, according to investigators.
Pedro Gonzalez was there when Miami-Dade police executed a warrant the warrants pertaining to the February shooting.
“Before I opened the door, they (police officers) opened the door for me — looking inside the efficiency looking for gun and stuff,” he said.
The arrests have left Ricano with a feeling of relief as she showed Local 10 News her bullet-riddled home.
“I am just glad I will sleep better tonight,” she said.
According to Ricano, Manny is doing fine, but doctors told him he will always have bullet fragments in his skull and scalp.
According to jail records, Washington is facing one count each of first-degree attempted murder and illegal possession of a deadly weapon as a convicted felon.
Reports show Perez is facing one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.
As of Wednesday, both suspects are being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where their bond has not been determined.
