MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man faces serious charges after police say he held a victim at gunpoint over slide sandals that were purchased at a Miami-Dade mall last Friday.

Police said the victim, who was accompanied by a friend, had just bought slide sandals at the mall when police say Cameron Jecoby Collier, 22, of Miami, approached them, then pressed a gun on the side of one of the victims and stated, “Give me that.”

As the friend fled to seek help, the victim was held down by another individual as Collier allegedly pistol-whipped him, causing severe head injuries, an arrest report stated.

Authorities said Collier then stole the victim’s sandals, debit card and keys before fleeing in a black sedan.

Following a traffic stop on Saturday, Collier was detained for bench warrants and other charges. Detectives later confirmed his identity through a photographic lineup conducted by the victim.

Collier waived his right to counsel after being read his Miranda Rights, but before requesting a lawyer, the interview was terminated, his arrest report states.

According to jail records, he faces charges of armed robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

As of Monday, Collier is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his total bond has not been determined.
