Man killed by Amtrak train in Opa-locka

OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – Authorities found a man dead near a set of train tracks in Opa-locka Friday afternoon; they believe he was hit and killed by an Amtrak train.

It happened just before 12:30 p.m. near Northwest 27th and Ali Baba avenues, according to Opa-locka police.

Authorities shut down traffic near the intersection as they investigated.

Officials haven’t said if they’ve determined why the man was on the tracks.

Miami-Dade police homicide detectives are investigating.
