WATCH: Broward firefighters save seagull stuck in fishing line

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – A seagull’s bad luck in Lauderdale Lakes Thursday morning quickly turned around when Broward County firefighters stepped in.

The bird had gotten stuck in fishing line at Vincent Torres Memorial Park, located at 4331 NW 36th St., about a block away from a Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue station.

“With the assistance of Oakland Park Fire Rescue’s ladder truck, the bird was extricated by removing the fishing line from the bird(’)s feet and then lowering him to the ground where he is expected to make a ‘Fowl’ recovery,” BSFR Battalion Chief Michael Kane said in a news release.

He added, “Bystanders told firefighters that the bird received some of the best ‘Tweetment’ ever seen.”
