Parking, towing fees to increase in South Beach during spring break

SOUTH BEACH, Fla. – Parking during spring break in South Beach is going to be more expensive starting on Thursday and towing fees will double.

The city is enforcing a $30 flat rate for the use of parking garages and surface lots in the Arts & Entertainment District.

“I think that it’s a really good idea,” said John Dobson, a Miami Beach resident.

That is because the high prices only apply to tourists. Kevin Alexander, a resident, said events are very problematic and he doesn’t think that will dissuade tourists from visiting South Beach.

“Spring break isn’t the most egregious thing that makes life busy around here that’s why I bought a scooter,” Alexander said adding, “At the end of the day you need those events. That’s why we’re all here especially if you work in industries that are booming by those events.”
