Driver detained after police chase ends in southwest Miami-Dade County

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A driver was detained Monday morning following a police chase that ended in southwest Miami-Dade County, authorities confirmed.

Sky 10 was above a construction site in the area of Southwest 192nd Avenue and 344th Street shortly after 10 a.m. after the suspect was taken into custody.

According to Miami-Dade police, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white van in the area of Southwest 207th Avenue and 344th Street, but the driver fled from the officer.

After a chase that also involved the police department’s Aviation Unit, police said the driver bailed out of the vehicle and tried to jump a fence but was unsuccessful.

He was then taken into custody.

Police said they are investigating whether the van the driver was in had been stolen.

No other details were immediately released.
