Investigation continues into Miami neighborhood shooting

MIAMI ā€“ Authorities responded to a Miami residential neighborhood after receiving reports of a shooting on Thursday.

It happened in the area of Northwest 59th Street and First Avenue.

According to police, officers arrived to find a man who had been shot.

Local 10 Newsā€™ Terrell Forney spoke to neighbors who wished to remain anonymous.

ā€œIt was just a lot of gunfire, it was rapid,ā€ said a neighbor. ā€œYou can tell it was more than one gun. it was rapid, it was a lot of gunfire. It sounded like it was a war zone.ā€

Dozens of detectives continued working the scene late into Thursday night, pounding the pavement for clues and soliciting statements from witnesses.

Part of the area was shut down for several hours because of the investigation. The focus appeared to be a home behind an apartment building.

Authorities said the shooting victim survived, but the circumstances surrounding the violent incident remain unclear.
