Man accused of vandalism rampage at Lauderdale Lakes church

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – A criminal was caught on camera vandalizing a church in Lauderdale Lakes, and leaders are very upset about the damage that was left behind.

Bishop Evan Grant showed Local 10 News’ Terrell Forney the damage throughout the church’s property on Wednesday.

“All these are impact windows and they’re hard to break,” said Grant.

A man went on a rampage at around 10 a.m. Wednesday, busting multiple windows, ripping open doors and even breaking an iron fence at the All Nations New Testament Church of God Fellowship, located at 4351 W. Oakland Park Blvd.

Surveillance video captured the man, who was holding and using a large object to carry out the vandalism, all while some church members and church leaders were inside of the sanctuary for a routine prayer.

The loud noises from outside got their attention.

“When I went out there, I saw this man who I’ve never seen before with an iron in his hand trying to destroy the shed that we have out there,” said Associate Pastor Haines Brown. “I said ‘What are you doing?’ He said this place belongs to him and he wants to get inside.”

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived and took the man into custody, but authorities have yet to release his name.

A GoFundMe was created to help the church pay for the damage caused, and it can be found by clicking here.
