Victim of Pollo Tropical beating says suspect ‘doesn’t deserve to be in the street’

PINECREST, Fla. – The victim in a brutal attack inside a South Florida restaurant spoke to Local 10 News’ Rosh Lowe about the incident.

It happened at around 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 inside a Pollo Tropical at 8975 S. Dixie Highway in Pinecrest.

Surveillance video from inside the restaurant captured everything.

According to police, a man seen in the video wearing a blue shirt was upset because it was taking too long for employees to take his order.

The victim, who appeared to be next in line, offered the suspect to cut in front of him.

All of a sudden, police said the man started insulting the victim, and when he was asked to stop, the man squared off with the victim.

“When I turned around to finish the order, he hit me the first time,” said the victim, who asked not to be identified. “He goes one-two, first one with the ring.”

In the video, police officers can eventually be seen descending on the restaurant.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying the man who took off that night.

“I was bleeding because of the ring,” said the victim. “I’m pretty sure this guy doesn’t deserve to be in the street.”

Anyone who thinks they recognize the man in the video or who has information on who he might be is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
