BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left a dump truck driver dead.
According to FHP Lt. Indiana Miranda, the crash was reported at 6:42 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 27 near Mile Marker 40 in west Broward County.

Miranda said the 1992 Ford dump truck was heading south on U.S. 27 when, for unknown reasons, the driver veered off the roadway, traveling onto the right shoulder before the truck overturned.
She said the truck came to a final rest on its left side.
The driver of the dump truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
Only one southbound lane was open following the fatal crash.
No other details were immediately released.
Miranda said the driver’s identity is being withheld as troopers work to notify the victim’s next-of-kin.
