Man accused of shooting at woman at Miami Gardens assisted living facility

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A 44-year-old man was arrested Sunday on accusations that he shot at a woman at an assisted living facility in Miami Gardens.

The shooting was reported Dec. 1, 2023, at the facility in the area of Northwest 193rd Street and 37th Avenue.

According to the suspect’s arrest report, Nathaniel Donelle Martin went to the facility that day, looking for the victim.

Miami Gardens police said someone told Martin that the woman was not there, at which point he became angry and yelled that he was “coming back for his money.”

According to the report, Martin returned to the facility later that day and began screaming obscenities through the victim’s bedroom window regarding the money she allegedly owed him.

The woman told police Martin then fired multiple rounds at her through the window.

Police said the woman ducked down before running toward the living room, where other residents were gathered.

According to the report, Martin broke the victim’s bedroom window out before fleeing from the facility.

The victim and her roommate both identified Martin as the shooter in a photo lineup, the report stated.

Martin was located Sunday and arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, making written threats to kill and criminal mischief.

As of Monday morning, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
