Free mammograms available for a day in Coconut Creek

Age women are expected to get their first mammogram is moving up in America

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – A nonprofit organization will provide free mammograms to uninsured women between the ages of 40 to 60 years old next month in Coconut Creek.

The Liga Contra El Cancer, also known as the League Against Cancer, partnered with Broward County officials to conduct screenings from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on March 16 at 4801 Coconut Creek Pkwy.

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends regular mammograms to detect cancers at early stages so treatment is more likely to be effective.

A woman’s risk for breast cancer is higher if she has a mother, sister, or daughter who has had breast cancer, according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
