Filming of ‘Bad Boys 4’ causes South Florida traffic disruptions through Sunday

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The cast and crew of “Bad Boys 4″ are in town this week, filming scenes for their new movie all over South Florida.

But along with the bad boys likely comes some bad traffic, as roads from Fort Lauderdale to Miami will be impacted by the big movie shoot.

On Monday, most of the action will be centered on Fort Lauderdale Beach.

Northbound lanes of A1A closed at 6 a.m. and remained closed through noon.

“They had a drone and then they had a Porsche that was, like, doing a spin out around the corner,” “Bad Boys” fan Courtlynn Plummer said. “I can’t say that I’ve seen cars like that do burnouts before, so I thought it was pretty cool. I also was trying to stay out the way, you know?”

After Monday, production will head south to continue filming scenes in the downtown Miami and Brickell areas.

That will start on Wednesday and last through the end of the weekend.

On Wednesday, the easternmost lane of Brickell Avenue between 13th and 14th streets will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Friday, Southwest Second Avenue and Second Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Southwest Second Avenue bridge between Third and Eighth streets will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

At this point, not much is known about the plot of the movie, which is expected to be released later this summer.

Believe it or not, it’s been more than four years since the last film in the franchise was released.

That one, “Bad Boys for Life,” earned more than $400 million worldwide after costing only $90 million to shoot.

Will Smith confirmed he was already in South Florida last week, posting a video to his social media pages after meeting Miami’s own Lionel Messi after an Inter Miami game.

Smith also met up with the club’s co-owner, soccer superstar David Beckham, as he took in what Smith said was his very first American soccer game.
