FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A 67-year-old elusive fugitive had been on the run since he was accused of trying to kill a friend who had invited him to watch the Super Bowl at his apartment in Broward County.

Randall C. Trammell, also known as Mark Reneau, was born in Oneida, Tennessee. He had lived at a homeless shelter and an assisted living facility in Fort Lauderdale, according to police.

The suspect was on the run for about 10 days. The U.S. Marshals Service and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department worked together and found him on Thursday, records show.

“Detectives observed [Trammell] walking in the parking lot,” Officer Eduardo Requejo wrote in his arrest report.

Identifying him wasn’t as challenging as finding him. The man Trammell tried to kill on Feb. 11 had known him for “several years,” according to Detective Michael Muccino’s statement for a warrant application.

“The victim stated that for unknown reasons, and unprovoked, Trammell became enraged and started physically attacking him in the living room,” Muccino wrote.

During the struggle, Trammell “punched him several times,” and he used a “sharp-edged instrument” to stab the victim in the “left side of his neck,” according to Muccino.

Fire Rescue personnel took the victim to the Broward Health Medical Center, he survived and was “expected to make a full recovery,” according to Muccino.

Trammell had lived at a HOPE South Florida homeless shelter at North Andrews Avenue and Northeast 11 Street in the South Middle River community, according to the warrant.

Trammell had also lived at the Broward House Inc., an assisted living facility west of the intersection of South Federal Highway and Southeast 18 Court, according to the warrant.

Detectives arrested him on Thursday on the Feb. 13 warrant at a Wawa gas station in the Melrose Manors neighborhood, records show.

Trammell had an expired driver’s license and a car that wasn’t registered in Florida at the corner of West Broward Boulevard and Southwest 27 Avenue, according to the arrest report.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies were holding him without bond on Friday at the main jail in Fort Lauderdale, records show.

Prosecutors filed the felony case against him on Friday for second-degree attempted murder. Records show Broward County Circuit Judge George Odom, Jr. was set to preside.

Detectives were asking anyone with information about the case to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
