Martinez faces a charge of kidnapping a minor under 13 while committing aggravated abuse and Howard faces charges of interference with custody of a minor and probation violation.

According to police, the baby, Amelia Martinez, was dropped off at a daycare center by her grandmother around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

She was then picked up around 1:40 p.m. by her father, Jacob Howard, and was passed off to her mother, Arys Martinez, authorities said.

They said both Arys Martinez and Howard had their parental rights terminated and Amelia is currently in ChildNet’s custody.

Investigators with the FDLE initially believed Amelia and Arys Martinez were traveling in a white Toyota Camry, heading to Orlando.

Police later confirmed that Amelia was found safe inside a home in the area of Northwest 215th Avenue and Eighth Court in Pembroke Pines.

The Pembroke Pines Police Department confirmed that its SWAT team assisted in retrieving Amelia from the home.

Records show Martinez and Howard were married on Valentine’s Day in 2022 and have a history of domestic violence.
