NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Loved ones are seeking answers after a man was killed in a hit-and-run in North Miami Beach.
“He could’ve lived another 30 years, but someone took his life,” said Chartis Ingraham, the victim’s sister. “How could you leave someone in the street like that? Run him over and leave him like that?”
Her brother was 59-year-old Levandous Henderson.
On Feb. 5 around 1 a.m., he was leaving his job at P.F. Chang’s on Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 173rd Street.
Ingraham said he had been working at the restaurant for nearly 30 years.
“Normally he rides his bike,” she said. “A car ran him over and left him to die.”
The family said the driver was in a red Infiniti.
They want justice for their loved one and for that driver to be held responsible.
“He was a very nice, gentle person -- kept to himself and lived alone,” said Ingraham. “He was loved by everyone.”
The North Miami Beach Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit said they are investigating the incident, but there has been no word on any arrests.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
