PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Reports of shots fired at the Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens prompted lockdowns on Wednesday afternoon, authorities confirmed.
Police said the mall is secure but will remain closed Wednesday after shots were reportedly fired, city officials said.
A law enforcement official confirmed with Local 10 News affiliate WPTV that there were shots fired and the incident was possibly gang-related.
Local 10 News obtained video footage of police officers outside P.F. Chang’s near the Macy’s entrance of the mall, located near the 3100 block of PGA Boulevard.
One victim involved in the incident showed up at St. Mary’s Medical Center, but their condition was unclear, according to WPTV. No bystanders have been reportedly injured.
The city said in a post on X just after 6 p.m. that it was not an “active shooter” event and it did not appear to be a random shooting. No arrests have been reported at this time.
Due to the incident, Palm Tran made an announcement stating all routes to the Gardens Mall - 1, 3, 10, 20, 21, and 33 - will be delayed.
Several people who were barricaded inside the mall were escorted by police, authorities confirmed.
