Family claims dog was run over by speeding driver in Pembroke Pines

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A family is looking for answers after they believe their beloved Cannoli, a French bulldog, was recently hit by a speeding driver in Pembroke Pines.

It happened Wednesday morning in the Chapel Trail neighborhood near Northwest 184th Avenue and Pines Boulevard.

The family told Local 10 News that they thought a vehicle was speeding in the area as it ran right over their beloved pet, but they’re most upset that the driver did not even stop to check on the dog.

Surveillance video shows a girl taking another dog out to go to the bathroom at which time Cannoli ran into the road and was hit by an SUV.

“Our French bulldog saw another dog across the street. She went to say hello and the exact moment she left off the curb, a car was coming and hit her,” said Channon Wilson, the dog’s owner.

The vet bills are now piling up for the family as three-year-old Cannoli remains in critical condition. But they say they’re willing to pay whatever the price is for this member of their family.

Cannoli’s family, who claimed the driver was traveling well over the speed limit of 20 mph and never stopped to see whether their dog was OK, had a message for the person responsible.

“I hope it never happens to them because it sucks to see your kid in distress and no one came out to help her,” said Wilson.

The family has since posted a GoFundMe link to help pay for the dog’s medical bills as she continues to fight for her life. Click here if you would like to donate.
