MIAMI – Miami police are investigating an early morning shootout that left one person dead Friday.
According to authorities, officers received a ShotSpotter alert just after 3:45 a.m. in the 7000 block of Northwest 15th Avenue in the city’s Liberty City neighborhood.
They responded to the scene to find a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Sky 10 was above the scene shortly after 6:30 a.m. as a mobile command unit was still in the area.
According to investigators, the man who was shot was involved in some sort of shootout with people at the apartment building.
He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators at the scene focused much of their attention on a vehicle in the apartment building parking lot. Bullet holes were clearly seen on the roof.
Evidence markers were also spotted on the street. Investigators also spent the morning trying to speak with potential witnesses at the apartment complex.
No other details about the shooting were immediately released by police.
