Man, 19, stabbed in ‘random’ attack in Aventura Mall garage

AVENTURA, Fla. – Police investigated a stabbing inside a parking garage at Aventura Mall Wednesday afternoon.

According to Aventura police, it happened at around 12:45 p.m. at the transit center located within the mall’s Nordstrom parking garage.

Police said a much older woman “bee-lined” it towards the 19-year-old victim as he was getting off the bus, then stabbed him in what authorities described as an unprovoked and “very random” attack.

“We do know that the victim was surprised, so it wasn’t like an escalation of a confrontation,” Sgt. Hans Maestre, an Aventura Police Department spokesperson said.

Medics took the victim, as a trauma alert patient to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

He suffered “superficial knife wounds” and was stable, police said.

Authorities said the suspect took off after the stabbing.
