Massive crane falls in between houses in northeast Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A truck designed for heavy lifting tipped over in a northeast Miami-Dade neighborhood and narrowly missed going straight into two houses — instead, falling right in between them.

It happened around 5:09 p.m. Wednesday along the 1300 block of Northeast 110th Terrace, just west of Biscayne Boulevard.

Video from Sky 10 showed apparent damage to the corner of a roof. The structures appeared to be otherwise intact.

It’s not clear what caused the crane to tip onto its side.

According to FPL, the crash happened while contractors were working on an electric line. Approximately 100 customers had their power interrupted, FPL said.

Andrea Guerra lives in one of the apartments inside the building that was struck and said that half the building was left damaged from the impact.

The effected occupants of the building were being put up in a hotel by FPL, Local 10 News’ Terrell Forney learned.

No injuries were reported, according to Miami-Dade police.

Local 10 News has contacted Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials seeking additional information.
