Man accused of stabbing, carjacking victim he met in parking lot of Miami-Dade Walmart

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 56-year-old man was arrested over the weekend after he stabbed and carjacked another man who he met in the parking lot of a Walmart in Miami-Dade County, authorities said.

According to the suspect’s arrest report, Nelson Angel Bellon, of Miami, approached the victim Saturday night in the parking lot of a Walmart, located at 9191 W. Flagler St. and asked the victim for a ride.

Miami-Dade police said the victim agreed and Bellon instructed the victim where to go.

But police said things took a turn when Bellon allegedly ordered the victim to stop the car and get out.

Police said he then pulled out a red box cutter and stabbed the victim in the torso.

According to the report, Bellon then jumped into the driver’s seat and fled the scene in the victim’s car.

The victim was transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in serious but stable condition.

According to the arrest report, Hialeah police located the victim’s vehicle just before 2 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Southwest Eighth Street.

Police said Bellon was taken into custody a short time later and was transported to the MDPD Northside Station for questioning.

According to the report, Bellon provided a confession but his full statement was redacted from the publicly released report.

Bellon faces charges of armed carjacking and attempted murder.

As of Tuesday afternoon, he remained held at the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center.
