LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – A man was driven to a hospital early Monday morning following a shooting in a residential area in Lauderdale Lakes, authorities confirmed.
The shooting was reported shortly before 3 a.m. in the 3700 block of Northwest 29th Street.
A Local 10 News crew was at the scene later in the morning as crime scene tape blocked off the area.
A number of marked and unmarked Broward Sheriff’s Office vehicles were parked at the scene as investigators were focusing on a home where a car was in the driveway with its hazard lights on.
According to people who live in that home, their house was shot at.
“It was some serious bullets that aired and sprayed out,” a woman who lives at the home told Local 10 News reporter Joseph Ojo.
The woman said her 33-year-old son was the victim injured in the shooting.
Deputies were seen checking nearby cars for bullet holes. Local 10′s cameras captured a car across the street that had a bullet hole on the passenger side and the radio inside the car was damaged.
Deputies went door to door, speaking with potential witnesses.
They also used flashlights to check for bullet casings on the ground.
“It was very, very loud -- very disturbing to wake up out of my sleep and to hear gunshots that close, not knowing it was, like, next door,” one neighbor said.
Deputies confirmed that a man was injured in the shooting, but his injuries were not considered to be life threatening.
Detectives with BSO’s Violent Crimes Unit are investigating.
No other details were immediately released.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
