Police: Man shot by cop after ramming car into Broward gas station dies in hospital

PLANTATION, Fla. – A man who was shot by an officer early Friday morning after a domestic incident sparked a police chase in Plantation and ended in a crash and confrontation in Lauderhill has died, authorities confirmed Saturday.

The incident began just before 5 a.m. when officers responded to a Mobil gas station at 10261 W. Broward Boulevard following reports of a domestic disturbance, according to Plantation police.

Investigators said a 31-year-old woman went into the gas station to try to get away from her boyfriend, who police identified as 32-year-old Roshod Graham, of Jacksonville, when he rammed the door of the gas station with his vehicle.

Surveillance footage obtained by Local 10 News showed a customer standing at the door and quickly getting out of the way as the suspect, who police identified as Graham drove his car into the front doors of the business.

Graham was then seen backing up his car and driving into the store three more times before he got out and pushed his way inside the damaged doors of the store.

Additional surveillance video shows an officer arriving and approaching and entering the store with his gun drawn, according to police. The footage shows other officers arriving and Graham pulling away in his car as the officers begin their pursuit.

During the pursuit, Graham rammed a police car before crashing into a median in the 1600 block of Northwest 31st Avenue in Lauderhill, authorities said.

Following a brief foot chase, police attempted to detain Graham who they said resisted arrest.

Police said as a struggle ensued, Graham attempted to take the officer’s gun when the officer shot him.

Plantation police confirmed Saturday morning that Graham was transported to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities said the Plantation Police Department is working alongside the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate this incident.
