MIAMI – American Airlines will now be flying to a brand-new Caribbean destination from Miami International Airport.
The company announced Saturday it will exclusively have non-stop flights from MIA to Governor’s Harbour, Bahamas.

“As Miami’s Hometown Airline, American is proud to provide our customers with an unparalleled network that includes destinations like Governor’s Harbour, with its iconic clear blue water and pink sand beaches,” said Juan Carlos Liscano, American’s Vice President of MIA Hub Operations. “We are proud to serve as the gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America, and today we are thrilled to provide our customers access to another beautiful vacation getaway.”
An American Airlines spokesperson said services will operate two times per week on Embraer E175 aircraft, complementing the airline’s winter schedule for the Bahamas which will include up to 14 daily departures to six destinations.
“Looking ahead to this spring, American will operate more than 380 peak-day flights as Miami’s Hometown Airline serving 150 destinations worldwide,” the company said in a news release.
