Police: Corvette driver arrested following hit-and-run crash in Hialeah

HIALEAH, Fla. ā€“ A 23-year-old man was arrested Monday by Hialeah police months after a hit-and-run crash in the city.

Devin Alberto, of Miami, faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving serious injury and driving with a suspended license.

According to his arrest report, the crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on Sept. 30, 2023, in the 1200 block of East 10th Avenue.

Hialeah police said the victim told officers that he was struck by a red newer-model Corvette and provided officers with the tag number.

Police said Alberto took off on foot after hitting the victim, but a witness followed him.

According to the report, officers then detained Alberto in the area of East Eighth Avenue and 26th Street for questioning.

Police said the key fob to the Corvette was in Albertoā€™s pocket, but he denied driving the vehicle and leaving the scene of the crash.

According to the report, officers later obtained surveillance video, which they said shows him abandoning the Corvette after the crash.

He was formally arrested on Monday.

As of Tuesday afternoon, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in lieu of a $2,650 bond.
