Miami-Dade teacher accused of making pornographic video on school grounds

DORAL, Fla. – A fine arts teacher at Ronald W. Reagan/Doral Senior High School is facing a felony pornography charge after police said he recorded and exposed himself at school in a video shared on social media.

Miami-Dade Schools police arrested Wesly Alvarez, 45, of west Miami-Dade, at the school on Monday afternoon.

According to an arrest report, multiple students reported seeing a public Snapchat video of Alvarez exposing himself in front of a bathroom mirror on the campus, located at 8600 NW 107th Ave.

“It is a video of him,” student Michael Granados told Local 10 News. “He was like stroking himself, touching himself on camera, I’m guessing in one of the teachers’ bathrooms and (he) posted it.”

In the video, the art teacher was wearing the same clothing as he wore to work that day, the report states.

“He was wearing the same exact shirt that day; everything was exactly the same,” Granados said.

An alleged confession was redacted from the report.

In a statement, the school district said it’s moving to fire the teacher.

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is aware of a video of this individual circulating on social media,” a district spokesperson said in a statement. “As soon as the District became aware of these disturbing allegations, an investigation was launched and the individual was subsequently arrested. Conduct such as the one he is accused of will not be tolerated. As such, his employment with the District is being terminated and we will ensure he is precluded from seeking future employment with M-DCPS.”

Alvarez, who lives in the Tamiami area, was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center Tuesday night.

Asked if he was in a relationship with a child at the school he was teaching at, Alvarez said, “Absolutely not.”

He had nothing else to say before getting into a woman’s car with a sweater covering his face.

After finding probable cause to charge him Tuesday morning, a judge set his bond at $7,500 and ordered he have no contact with children while the case is pending.
