BSO: Man accused of shooting, injuring cousin in Deerfield Beach

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives arrested a 33-year-old man Tuesday after they said he shot his teenage cousin Monday night.

It happened at approximately 7:37 p.m. near the 4000 block of Northeast Sixth Avenue in Deerfield Beach.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived to find a 16-year-old teen who had been shot.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue rushed the teen to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities said Dexter Terronn Liberal was taken into custody following the incident and faces charges that include felony attempted murder and unlawful discharge of a firearm in public.

Police told Local 10 News Tuesday that the teen involved in the shooting is in stable condition and is expected to be OK.

Deputies said a motive for the shooting remains unclear and the investigation is ongoing.
